You meet the nicest people boating! This is Dan and Angela, and their 80 foot Hatteras. They are cruising the PNW but have plans to go to Mexico, through the Panama Canal and into the Caribbean. Go big or go home!
Angela has begun blogging, check them out at adventuresonangelique.com/ (Also added them to the resources page.)

If you have read the "who we are" page you know that the bulk of my experience in large trawlers is on my friend's 70' Delta. I have been crewing regularly on this boat since 2001 and have over 7,000 ocean miles. His favorite place in the world is Alaska and this year he is doing an extended tour. He is now over in the Kenai peninsula area. This year for the first time he bought a drone, and he's quickly mastering it. Today I'm sharing one of his videos, a favorite place of his, College Fjord. Gorgeous footage. And the yacht ain't bad either! Fury Cove, B.C. by Kevin Morris I have written about Slowboat.com in a previous Friends on Friday post. It was great to meet Laura, Kevin and Sam at Trawlerfest in Bremerton. Including the afterparty on board Sam's boat!
They are currently leading another flotilla from Anacortes up to Alaska. They are taking their time and enjoying the sights along the way. And taking us with them via daily posts on their blog. The writing is great, the pictures are spectacular. If you like armchair cruising, and particularly if you fancy doing this trip yourself, check out their journey. Here is a link to the first day of the trip: slowboat.com/2018/05/ak-day1/ From time to time we will do posts linking to other blogs or websites that have great content. Today we feature a series done by the SlowBoat.com crew - their 2017 Flotilla to Alaska. I have done this trip myself, both ways. This is hands down the best set of blog posts and photography on this particular journey I have ever seen. Each day is documented with excellent photos, including fantastic drone work. Their flotilla is a group of boats that are heading to Alaska from Seattle, for the first time. One of the SlowBoat crew is Laura Domela, a professional photographer, and her images are outstanding.
Talk about armchair cruising! Here's the link to the index page: 2017 SlowBoat to Alaska Flotilla. I know you are going to enjoy it. One day you will see similar posts and images right here on Mahalo's blog. |
